			 <![CDATA[This Video Tutorial shows the eAnalytics installation on a Ubuntu 10.04 LTS server.<br /><br />The complete web controlling system - containing front end-, database-, pre-processing components and page tagging server - is being installed in only a few steps. The tutorial shows how to check if the system work correctly as well. This describes the single server installation that is suitable for websites with up to 5m page views per month. Zweifelsohne gibt es auch &quot;freie Software&quot;, deren Einsatz im kommerziellen Bereich wenig Sinn macht.<br /><br />Wer aber zweifelt ernstlich daran, dass Organisationen, die Systeme wie Magento, mySQL, Talend oder Rapid Miner einsetzen, meistens eine kluge Entscheidung getroffen haben?<br /><br />Im Bereich der Webanalyse kommen sogar noch gute Gründe hinzu: Die Möglichkeit der Installation in der eigenen Infrastruktur. Damit kann typischerweise am besten sichergestellt werden, dass unternehmenskritische Informationen nicht in falsche Hände geraten oder auf eine Weise genutzt werden, die nicht mit dem Unternehmen abgestimmt sind. Außerdem unterstützt eine On-Premise Installation die enge Integration mit anderen Systemen (CRM, Data Mining, Email-Marketing, CMS,..).<br /><br />Mit der Verwendung des Begriffs &quot;freie Software&quot; werden häufig grundverschiedene Werkzeuge in einen Topf geworfen. Der Begriff wird in der Bedeutung &quot;kostenlos&quot; verwendet. Die Kritik umfasst dann Open-Source Software und Services, die von Unternehmen (aufgrund anderer Umsatzquellen) ohne Gebühren angeboten werden. Insbesondere im Webanalyse-Umfeld werden dann damit die Angebote von Google und Yahoo kritisiert. <br /><br />Es wird darauf hingewiesen, dass der Einsatz nicht wirklich kostenlos ist. Natürlich nicht!&nbsp; Spätestens seit Avinash Kaushik 10/90-Regel weiß man, dass sie Tool-Kosten den geringsten Teil ausmachen. Außerdem muss jedes Unternehmen immer Kosten für Infrastruktur, Support und Beratung einkalkulieren.<br /><br />Was bleibt ist die Aussage: &quot;Teuer&quot; bedeutet oft auch &quot;besser&quot; - zumindest in irgendeinem Sinn. Die Fragen, die sich eine Organisation stellen muss: Muss es immer &quot;teuer&quot; sein? Ist der &quot;Besser&quot;-Bereich im konkreten Fall relevant? Bietet die kostengünstige Variante nicht die signifikante Vorteile in relevanten Bereichen. <br /><br />Und schließlich: Nicht immer ist &quot;teuer&quot; auch angebracht bzw. finanzierbar. All available web analytic tools in Germany get ranked based on the scopes and features. </span></p><p style="margin-bottom:6.0pt"><span lang="EN-US">More than 360 features and scopes get recorded and 420 points could be possible. All professional web analytic tools are ranked by the achieved points. So, the first three ranks are Adobe with SiteCatalyst 15, Webtrends with Webtrends Analytics 10 and Webtreck with Webtreck Q3. </span></p><p style="margin-bottom:6.0pt"><span lang="EN-US">Next to the commercial web analytic solutions are also open source products (e.g. eAnalytics or Piwik) and products without license fees (e.g. Google Analytics) in the IdealObserver ranking. The leader of all free web analytic products is eAnalytics. </span></p><p style="margin-bottom:6.0pt"><span lang="EN-US">In total eAnalytics is on rank number 14. So, 13 tools are ranked better than eAnalytics and more than 80 tools did not reached as much points as eAnalytics. eAnalytics is the best ranked web analytic tool without license fees in the IdealObserver ranking, which is an independent ranking.</span></p><p style="margin-bottom:6.0pt"><span lang="EN-US">Regarding data security eAnalytics reached more points than SiteCatalyst 15 (rank 1) and Webtrends Analytics 10 (rank 2). After two exciting and interesting days, the eAnalytics team had a lot of new contacts, new ideas and inspirations.</span></p><h4 style="margin-left:0cm; text-indent:0cm; line-height:normal"><strong><span style="font-size:11.0pt"></span></strong><strong><span style="font-size:11.0pt">New Release</span></strong></h4><p style="line-height:normal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt" lang="EN-US">Punctual to the dmexco exhibition, the eAnalytics team launched a new version of the open source web analytics tool with some updates and improvements – eAnalytics 0.91.</span></p><h4 style="margin-left:0cm; text-indent:0cm; line-height:normal"><strong><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:11.0pt"><span style="font:7.0pt &quot;Times New Roman&quot;"></span></span></strong><strong><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:11.0pt">Traffic on eAnalytics web page</span></strong></h4><p style="line-height:normal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt" lang="EN-US">The traffic on the eAnalytics homepage in the first two month was not bad: in total more than 3.000 visits and more than 10.000 page views until the end of October 2011with nearly 700 successful events (like document download, video streams or source code downloads). The September – the dmexco month – was the best one: The average number of daily unique user is in September 80% higher than in the following month. </span></p><p style="line-height:normal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt" lang="EN-US">Most of the visitors come directly to the eAnalytics homepage (41%). The direct customers are the segment with highest conversion to a defined success event. Customers coming from a display campaign or search advertising (in total 51% of all visitors) have a high bounce rate. Maybe these visitors expect something else when they clicked on the advertising. </span></p><p style="line-height:normal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt" lang="EN-US">So, the eAnalytics team has two to dos: find out what visitors expect and create a landing page. Visitors which come from SEO, social media or direct to the web site, have the lowest bounce rate. This result was expected: visitors from social media are fans or followers of eAnalytics because they are interested in web analytics or open source products. The SEO visitors have also a high interest to web analytics and web analytic tools because they used a search engine and clicked on a search engine result to land on the eAnalytics homepage. That is why these visitors do not bounce directly – they have an intention.</span></p><h4 style="margin-left:0cm; text-indent:0cm; line-height:normal"><strong><span style="font-size:11.0pt"></span></strong><strong><span style="font-size:11.0pt">Downloads of eAnalytics</span></strong></h4><p style="line-height:normal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt" lang="EN-US">The open source code of eAnalytics can be downloaded on the eAnalytics homepage or on sourceforge.net. In the last two month there was 39 downloads on these to web sites: 20 downloads from the eAnalytics homepage and 19 from the sourceforge with France and Germany as the top download countries. </span></p><h4 style="margin-left:0cm; text-indent:0cm; line-height:normal"><strong><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><span style="font:7.0pt &quot;Times New Roman&quot;"></span></span></strong><strong><span style="font-size:11.0pt">Social&nbsp; media</span></strong></h4><p style="line-height:normal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt" lang="EN-US">One of the important things of an open source product is the community. Learn from the experience of other users and talk about best practices will help everyone to use an open source web analytics product. That is why eAnalytics is interested in to have an own community over a few platforms.</span></p><p style="line-height:normal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt" lang="EN-US">During two months eAnalytics published 6 blog posts on the own blog about eAnalytics features, data privacy and the advantages to use the open source product for web analytics.</span></p><p style="line-height:normal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt" lang="EN-US">32 people from the web analytics and open source community follow eAnalytics on Twitter and read and retweet the eAnalytics Tweets. Since launch, 93% of all tweets were retweeted by the followers.</span></p><p style="line-height:normal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt" lang="EN-US">On Facebook are 65 people fans of the open source web analytic product. The fans get continuous updates about news, new features and can contact the eAnalytics team directly. Currently 19 fans of eAnalytics are talking about eAnalytics on Facebook.</span></p><p style="line-height:normal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt" lang="EN-US">In Xing and LinkedIn are user groups available. Also so way around is possible: to integrate offline date e.g. from your DWH or BI system into eAnalytics. For example use customer values and retours for you web analytics. It is possible to create customized reports based on the data base. In every eAnalytics report are filters available: reports for a specific customer groups for real-time and past usage are possible.</span></p><p style="margin-bottom:0cm; margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span lang="EN-US">Custom metrics can be calculated very easy.</span></p><p style="margin-bottom:0cm; margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span lang="EN-US">With eAnalytics the product-related success of banner and teaser can be measured – and I do not mean only the click through, I mean the real product conversion. It is possible to track whether the visitors buy the promoted product from the banner s/he clicked on. One really useful feature is the preferred category. This feature provides the preferred category from your visitors based on your predefined rules. You define rules and set values for different events, e.g. “product view” gets the value 1 and “add to basket” get the value 3. For example: “product views” of product in different categories have the same value (e.g. 1). If customers viewed more products in category A than in category B, than A is the preferred category (this is the simple version). The event&nbsp; </span>“add a product to the basket” has a higher value (e.g. 3) than a “product view” (e.g. 1). That means for one product from category B in the basket and two product views in category A, the preferred category is B.</p><p style="margin-bottom:0cm; margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span lang="EN-US">You can create your own rules for your categories based on your content.</span></p><p style="margin-bottom:0cm; margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span lang="EN-US">The preferred category is stored in the data base and can be used real-time for personalized promotions, e.g. show visitors products from their preferred category in the teaser or banner.</span></p><p style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;"></p><blockquote><p style="margin-bottom:0cm; margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span lang="EN-US">Give it a try: This feature is implemented in the test shop <link http://www.demo-eanalytics.de/tastygarden/index.php - external-link-new-window "Opens external link in new window">TastyGarden</link>. The 3<sup>rd</sup> teaser on the homepage shows the preferred category. To get a preferred category you have to generate some clicks in the TastyGarden shop. Please notice the data from the test shop are processed every 5 minutes and after the processing a product from your preferred product category will be displayed in the 3<sup>rd</sup> teaser. With your expired session the cookie with your preferred category will be deleted.</span></p><p style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;"></p><p style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;"></p></blockquote><p style="margin-bottom:0cm; margin-bottom:.0001pt"><b><span lang="EN-US">Process reporting:</span></b></p><p style="margin-bottom:0cm; margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span lang="EN-US">Buying a product, subscribe to the newsletter or create an user login can be a process. To understand your visitor and for optimizing the user experience for your page, it is interesting to know how the visitor’s behavior is in such processes. For this it is necessary to set events on the different steps in the process on your page and every step gets tracked. In the frontend the process can be displayed in funnels.</span></p><p style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;"></p><p style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;"></p><p style="margin-bottom:0cm; margin-bottom:.0001pt"><b><span lang="EN-US">Data sources</span></b></p><p style="margin-bottom:0cm; margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span lang="EN-US">As in a lot of other web analytic solution the page tagging is the base for eAnalytics. Additional the data from Google Adword and Twitter (e.g. Tweets, hash tag information or account changes) runs into the data base and can be used for web analytics.</span></p><p style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;"></p><p style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;"></p><p style="margin-bottom:0cm; margin-bottom:.0001pt"><b><span lang="EN-US">Internal search:</span></b></p><p style="margin-bottom:0cm; margin-bottom:.0001pt"><span lang="EN-US">The internal search on your page can be tracked – including the search requests, the number of results, the number of displayed results, the number of result pages and a lot more internal search KPIs. </span></p><p style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;"></p><span lang="EN-US">These are only a few features of the open source product eAnalytics, which eAnalytics differs from other non commercial web analytic products.</span><span lang="EN-US">Do you think so? And a lot of them found the way to the eAnalytics stand in Hall 8, which was not as big in relation to our commercial competitors.</span><span lang="EN-US">&nbsp;</span>The eAnalytics team had a lot of interesting talks and discussions. We are very proud that the feedback on eAnalytics of all visitors was positive. A lot of visitors <span lang="EN">were</span><span lang="EN"></span><span lang="EN">enthusiastic about this</span><span lang="EN"> open source </span><span lang="EN">solution and about the web front end.</span><span lang="EN-US"> We get new inspirations and a lot of good contacts.</span><span lang="EN-US">The open source web analytic solution was launched at the right time. There is a new EU law for protecting the personal information of the users. Following the enforcement of this law web analytics has to change or will die. </span><span style="font-size:10.0pt" lang="EN-US">Dying is not a solution because everyone in the web community knows how important web analytics is for optimizing web pages, e-commerce shops and even products and product promotions.</span><span style="font-size:10.0pt" lang="EN-US">So, today we proudly present the new generation of web analytics: eAnalytics. </span><span style="font-size:10.0pt" lang="EN-US">eAnalytics is a German open source in-house solution for web analytics. All data are stored in compliance with the German data privacy law – and as you know the German privacy guidelines regarding IP addresses are the strictest all over the world. </span><span style="font-size:10.0pt" lang="EN-US">eAnalytics provides features that enable companies to match their web analysis concept to their data privacy protection concept. The 1<sup>st</sup> one is to deactivate the complete logging. The 2<sup>nd</sup> is to use the IP Mask Modul to mask the IP address. The masked IP address has no effect to the accuracy of the geographical allocation process. Cookies are only used for identifying returning visitors.</span></li></ul><span style="font-size:10.0pt" lang="EN-US">These features are responsible that you will be compliant to the data privacy guidelines.
